Nitin passed away in 2018 after battling a long disease. He was a master photographer, and he was a dear friend of mine. I had spent a lot of time with him before he passed away. On the eve of his passing, he handed me a suitcase with old videotapes: "Geoffray, take this and use it someday. There’s some good stuff in there!" It contained behind the scenes footage of his iconic covers from albums and magazines, as well as outtakes from more projects, which some of them I shot 20 years ago (Ozzy, Nike). Also a great interview of Nitin during the Hip Hop Immortals exhibit in Japan introducing his most iconic portraits. As a tribute to my friend and as a fan of his work, I’ve chosen to publish this selection. I thought I would have them accompany the final print so that aspiring photo lovers may see how they were made, how photographers interact with subjects, how sets, lights are made... Basically for the world and future generations to study a master at work... Geoffray Barbier
